Combine the 'Stop the Bleed’ course with a 5 Hour Bolt on Trauma Essentials Course based on the guidelines provided by the CoTECC. The Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) guidelines are a set of best practice recommendations for casualty management during civilian tactical and rescue operations. Based upon the principles ofTactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), TECC accounts for the differences in the civilian environment, resources, patient population, and scope of practice from the military combat environment of TCCC. The Committee for Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (C-TECC) is modelled after the Committee for Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC)

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The 4-day Tactical Trauma Life Support (TTLS) is a highly intensive course that is developed to help combat medics deal with trauma in a tactical setting. TTLS course provides a tactical pre-hospital trauma care philosophy, stressing the need to treat the multi system trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs. This may require an approach to the trauma patient that varies from traditional treatment modalities. The difference between TTLS and other pre-hospital trauma courses is the that the course is backed by evidence based medicine and continual research and development. The course is held 2 days at the office for theory & practical skills, then 2 days of casualty simulation training at an immersive training facility North of Johannesburg.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The Prolonged Field Care Programme is a 6-day course aimed at medical professionals who are required to provide austere critical care in resource depleted and remote settings, where evacuation of patients, and casualties may be significantly delayed. The accepted definition of Prolonged Field Care, is “field medical care, applied beyond ‘doctrinal planning time-lines.’ Operationally, the sphere of care is applicable to students who may be providing far forward medical support in both permissible, wilderness/remote settings and non-permissible, high threat/adverse environments. Limitations in terms of equipment, logistics and sustainment, provide context to the planning elements of the course. Combined with education and enhancement of patient care skills, surgical skills, point-of-care diagnostics, nursing skills, documentation, trending and telemedicine, ultimately enhancing the student’s capability beyond the “Golden Hour”.

FINEX (Course culminates in a 36-hour exercise)

PREREQUISITE: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or higher. Additionally, we will accept, non-medical personnel who have completed the TTLS Provider course or equivalent, such as a TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) course. The curriculum for non-medical personnel varies slightly.

The 6 Day PFC course comprises of 4 Days classroom theory & skills labs, and 2 days of practical including a 36-hour FINEX. Transport to and from the practical simulation area, meals & accommodation are included (1 night). There is a period of 4 weeks pre-study required.
